I have also opted in and havent received anything. I need to desperately get on this program. I have a 1 TB drive I have all my folders set to smart sync online only but now have my computer crashing as there is not enough room on my hard Drive. I even went into DB preferences and unchecked a whole lot of folders so they're not synced - made no difference whatsoever. This is getting ridiculous.

Hey there @Fanale,

I was able to locate your ticket in our system and could see that the agent handling your request had replied back to you. Did you receive this email at all?

If not, perhaps you could check your spam/junk email to see if it was redirected there by mistake.

Hi Daphne - 

Hoping you can help me on support ticket #9678410 requesting my team be opted into the early access program for Zero Size Placeholders.  I filed the request with support on 9/4/19 and was only told it may take "several days" to get a response.  So far I have not heard anything.  Can you check on the status of the request for me and help expedite it if it is still pending?  Thanks.

also experiencing issues with this, but worse of all it has just blocked dropbox from working at all, Can not add any selective sync issues so my laptop is basically unusable as all my files are on my dropbox. Can not deal with thousands of sync issues and risk losing files if i start manually deleting stuff now (linked to two other computers)

sent a request for the early access so hoping that goes trough ASAP

Smart Sync: not freeing up space

Smart Sync: is not freeing space on my Macbook. I am using the desktop app.

 

- My files sync. There is no problem here

- I’m on a Professional plan so smart sync should work fine

- I’ve made my files online-only, though they’re still using up my storage locally. They appear as online only on my laptop Dropbox folder.

- I see the same problem being posted by many other users on the forums but no solution has been provided, even though the discussions show "SOLVED"!

But still these folders are taking up space. I am stuck as my laptop hard-disk is full and I have wasted a lot of time already trying to get this to work but in vain. Why is Dropbox such a pain even with a professional plan, please help!!!

Been having the same issues as discussed here. Followed the solution path and requested an to opt in the “Zero Size Placeholders”, but haven't heard back yet. What is the usual timeframe? Need this problem resolved fast as I am blocked at work; would need to find another solution otherwise.

I wouldn't be able to suggest a specific timeline for you unfortunately. I would recommend just reaching out to the agent handling your case via email for an update as they would be best suited to answer this query.

This is confusing — if this is Mac issue, why is Dropbox refusing to advocate on behalf of its clients to find and publish a fix. The ultimate response of users will be to find a new cloud service rather than ditch their OS. Jay... please stop putting out your two year standard response, get on the horn with Mac, and solve the issue. For what it’s worth, iCloud does not have a manual download/upload to/from cloud for its users— but there are 3rd party softwares that do. If they figured out how to manipulate Macs OS, surely you guys can too...

I'm still with the same problem. Dropbox Support told me by mail to unlinked my account from the computer and then re-link it.  Everything stays the same. As you can see in my screenshots, Dropbox is still taking a lot of space in my computer.
