Hi all, I have a strange problem with SmartSync on a Mac. Whenever I try to open a file that is "online only", I get an error message, both by directly double clicking and when opening from inside an application. I get the error that I don't have access rights in MS Office and otherwise just a generic error message. I have to make all files that I want to use "local". My harddrive is slowly filling up because of this. Any tips how to fix this problem? On my work PC, SmartSync works just fine.
When you access a file it is downloaded to your machine so it can be opened and worked on (the same will happen on the PC). Then you need to manually reset it to cloud only. It isnt possible to edit a file that is cloud only within any application on your computer using Dropbox.

Perhaps the manual reset to "online only" is necessary - that's not even my main problem, however, my issue are the constant errors thrown when I try to open files without downloading them first. Having to manually set the file to "local" before accessing it is not how it's supposed to work, according to Dropbox's own advertising and my past experience. Rather, an online-only file is automatically downloaded and can be opened from the file browser or from inside an app as if it was already on the hard drive (the whole point of smartsync?). This is giving me lots of trouble when running Stata scripts etc. that access multiple files, and I only have the issue on my new Mac but didn't have it on previous computer and don't have it on my PC.
