Sound on video file cuts out after 10 seconds

I uploaded a ~30 second video to drop box to share with a colleague. When viewing this file from the link, the audio cuts out after 10 seconds. I deleted and uploaded the file multiple times thinking something happened suring the upload, but I got the same result. I found where someone had reported the exact same issue in 2019 (https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Problem-with-video-sound/m-p/326542) but the resolution was not posted. What's the answer?

Hi @MarcusAlby, thanks for messaging the Community!

 

Are you experiencing this issue just for that video, or for others as well? Could you try switching browsers to see if this helps? 

 

Otherwise, use incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.

Well ... I was originally experiencing the problem with Microsoft Edge. So as you suggested, I copied the link to Chrome, and the video played fine. Oddly enough, I (accidentally) opened the link again in Microsoft Edge, and the video now plays fine there too! I have tried several things to reproduce the problem and can't do it. I know I logged out of DropBox and shut down the browser, and tried reloading the video multiple times. I'm pretty sure I rebooted my machine somewhere along the way when I had the problem initially - it's stunning how oftern that works - but I'm not certain I did that. I'm stumped ... but more importantly, the issue is gone. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the update, @MarcusAlby!

 

I'm glad to hear it's working now, sometimes a simple reboot is needed to make things work, or even, by opening it in Chrome, the appropriate drivers to play the audio were used, and perhaps this helped Edge play the audio afterwards.

 

Regardless, it's good to know it's playing normally.
