Space Issue

Space Issue

SarahShep
New member | Level 2

My Dropbox was recently full and it stated it could not back any more pictures up.

I have deleted all the pictures out of my Dropbox as well as the deleted files section. My Dropbox storage says I have only used 0.1% of my storage space but when i try to back up my pictures again it states "Not enough space on device. Free up space to continue upload"

My phone has plenty of storage - including iCloud.

What do I need to do to get my pictures to start backing up again?

Hey @SarahShep, thanks for your post!

Can you please send me a screenshot of the message you're getting, so I can look into it?

Thank you!

Same here. Plenty of space in Dropbox and on my iPhone. Seems like a bug.

I don’t see how to upload a screenshot here, but the message at the top of the Camera Uploads screen on my iPhone App says:

“Not enough space on device

Free up space to continue upload.”

Running iOS 14.4.2 on iPhone7 and DropBox App 242.3.2.

Please advise. Thanks! ;-D

Hey @Jeeembo66, thanks for reaching out!

If you open this thread from your computer, and hit the 'reply' button, you'll see a camera icon, so that you can send me a screenshot of this error message.

I'll also need you to send me a screenshot of how much space you have available on your device.

Thanks!

I’m looking at the desktop site and there’s no camera icon.

Regardless, I typed the message I see exactly, including punctuation. My iPhone7 has 128GB with 39.4 GB free.

I signed out of DropBox on my iPhone app, and when I signed back in I got “some” additional photo uploads to happen.

But signing out and back in reset all my options and so I had to re-select the options to Upload All Photos and Videos, and now my app is stuck RE-Scanning all 38,000 of my photos.

This is really disappointing. ;-}

Thanks for the update on this.

Can you try to clear cache of the Dropbox app, from the settings, to see if that helps?

This is affecting me too.

I've tried to take your advice, Hannah, but there is no "clear cache" option in the Dropbox section of the iOS Settings app, nor can I find a Settings tab or icon within the Dropbox iOS app itself.

Could you please clarify what steps you mean for us to take when you suggest that we clear the Dropbox cache?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply here @drbanzai!

To clear the cache on the Dropbox app, open the Dropbox app, tap 'Account' at the bottom right, then on the gear icon at the top left and at the bottom, you'll see an option to 'clear cache'.

Hi @Pace514, thanks for posting today!

Have you checked your Mac's available space?

Is there any chance you're running out of space on your hard drive?

Let me know what you find.
