View, download, and export

I'm not sure what to do. My Dropbox stopped syncing files in the last day or two. I noticed it yesterday when linking a few files to a friend. Dropbox showed the file as synced, and I shared the link with him, but it never uploaded.
I really have no idea what to do. I've tried fixing perms, fixing hard links, letting it sit overnight, rebooting my computer, selective sync has all boxes checked.
I haven't changed my firewall settings or AV or anything like that that I know of.
When I hover over the icon I get:
Dropbox 90.4.307
Indexing 8 Files...
Uploading 1 File...
Downloading 3 files (1 KB/Sec, 1 Sec)
Any ideas here? I couldn't find anything online or here that has helped.
Thanks
Hi @meetloaf13, thanks for posting today!
Could you try checking the Dropbox folder on your machine and see if you can navigate to the file that is trying to upload by following the blue syncing icons ?
If you locate the file, could you try moving it out of the Dropbox folder and then back in again to see if this helps?
Let me know how it goes!

Hi, I have a similar problem.
It is a shortcut that does not exist anymore, but the app keeps on trying to download it. (The shortcut used to point to an .exe file on my laptop located in a non-dropbox folder)
I have uninstalled and installed the latest desktop version, but the problem persists
Thank you for any help you may give!
Hi @user21, if the app is trying to download it from the Dropbox site, try deleting the file from the site itself to see if this helps.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi, thanks for your reply.
The app says it is a read-file only, and it suggests to change the properties, but actually the file does not exist anymore on the dropbox website.
Any suggestion is more than welcome!
Okay, so the app isn’t trying to download the file, it’s trying to upload it.
Is the file visible in the Dropbox folder? Have you tried quitting the Dropbox app and then deleting or moving the file out of the Dropbox folder?

Hi Jay,
the icon on the right-bottom corner of the desktop says "downloading file.lnk", so I thought the problem was in the dropbox cloud.
In any case: I've quitted the app, reinstalled and reopened it. It still tries to download the file, but it does not exist anymore so I do not really know what it is looking for!
Best regards
Davide
