Subdirectory lost AND deleted.

Subdirectory lost AND deleted.

I installed the free version of Dropbox. Shortly thereafter, it informed me that I had exceeded my 'free 2 GB'... then today I discover that it not only failed to back up some files BUT ACTUALLY DELETED THEM FROM MY HARD DRIVE! This group included two entire subdirectories (that I have noticed)!

Hey @lactin, thanks for posting on our Community and sorry to hear about your files missing.

I understand you enabled the computer backup feature on your Dropbox app.

Have you checked the 'Mac'/'PC' folder in your Dropbox folder to see if your missing files got backed up and moved there?

If not, try checking your deleted files page and your events page in Dropbox, you might find them there.

Let me know how it goes.

I found the directories later; they had been moved into a subdirectory of a new subdirectory called "Files on My computer", which I only discovered while installing the Norton cloud backup.

This maneuver by dropbox makes no sense.

I have uninstalled the app from my harddrive and will never use it again.

Thanks for the update here and for your feedback as well.

I'm happy you were able to locate your files, nonetheless.
