Hey @PDH - welcome to our Community and thanks for using Dropbox!

At first, let me clarify that any actions you take on your files/folders (within your Dropbox Folder on your computer when your desktop app is running) will be reflected (synced) across your linked devices and on the website as well. This means that when you delete files from your Dropbox folder, those would be deleted from all linked devices and the website.

The best way to achieve the task at hand would be our selective sync feature which allows you to choose which folders to sync to a particular computer. It's a great option if you'd like to free up disk space.

To get starter with Selective Sync please follow the steps in this Help Center article:

https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/sync-uploads/selective-sync-overview

By default, all folders in Dropbox automatically sync to any computer that's linked to your Dropbox account. If you'd like to prevent a folder from syncing to your computer, un-check the box next to the folder's name (within your desktop app's preferences>selective sync settings). Any folders you deselect will stop syncing to your hard drive, but will still be available through the website and on any other computer linked to your Dropbox account.

I hope this helps and please keep me posted on your progress!
