Syncing Dropbox folder on NAS never worked properly and now my files are gone

Syncing Dropbox folder on NAS never worked properly and now my files are gone

New member | Level 2

I ended my dropbox account, there was an backup on my NAS in an map. When i deleted my droppbox from my computer the entire map on my NAS was deleted, not only the dropbox map.

My problem was that dropbox did not synchronised well on three computers.

If I deleted a file it came back from another computer, even when I give the command delete on other computers.

Hi @svenolav, thanks for checking in with us.

Generally, placing the Dropbox folder on a NAS drive can cause unexpected behaviors because network file systems do not send messages when files change.

You'll find more information about this on Walter's post, here

However, this would affect the files that were placed in the Dropbox folder, and not any items outside of it.

Could it be that you were using computer backup when you had the desktop app installed?

Have a look and let me know of any updates. Cheers!
