The Desktop function on may MacbookAir seems to have been incorporated into Dropbox

I can no longer drag and drop anything onto my desktop.     Things that used to be on my desktop like folders and files are now kin my dropbos and I cannot drfag or move them to my desktop.     AppleCare cannot resolves the problem and believe that it has something to do with Dropbox controlls.     Any help will be appreciated.      Using Catalina operating system.

You likely have the computer backup feature enabled.
