The file cannot be accessed by the system with grey X

I found some of the files in Dropbox folder are shown with Grey X. And I cannot access those files. Screenshots are attached. I recently installed dropbox app so it should not be a problem of new updates. dropbox_err.JPG

Hey there @yjo29, I'd be more than happy to help!

As a first step, could you please try the following steps in this exact order:

  1. Click on the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock.
  2. Select the avatar icon on the top right of the menu.
  3. From the drop-down list, click on Preferences...
  4. On the Account tab, click in the window under the tab (just anywhere will do).
  5. Hold down the 'Space' key and click on the Fix Hardlinks button.
  6. You may be prompted for your a username and password (this is your computer login credentials, not your Dropbox account ones).

Once you do this, it may need a few minutes to see if Dropbox resumes syncing.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi @sfo1ckh, thanks for joining us on this discussion.

If you don't see a Dropbox icon next to your computer's clock, that generally means that the desktop app isn't running.

You'll have to manually relaunch it from the Applications menu and try again.
