Transfer lots of large image files from external hard drive to Dropbox

I am a photographer and use external hard drives to store my working files - I don't keep them on my laptop. I am currently using a different cloud backup system, but am interested in using Dropbox, so I can view previews of image files. I need to transfer about 2TB and would like to know if there's a way to easily get them on to Dropbox, without them going on to my laptop, i.e. without using selective sync - I want it to happen in the background, automatically. Is this possible with Dropbox? Thanks.

Simply put, no, sorry.

Unless you want to manually upload them via the website they will need to be on the computer before they upload to Dropbox.
