Trying to send 4.12GB file

Trying to send 4.12GB file

I'm trying to send a 4.12GB MP4 file to an account which has confirmed plenty of space to accept it. My own free Dropbox account has 1.4GB used of 2.00GB. I receive an error message 'server error' each of five times I've tried to send it (appears right at the last second), I don't really understand this tech, but assumed if the recipient has the space it should send. Can anyone please help me understand? Cheers!

How are you trying to send it? If you are uploading it to your account it will fail as you do not have enough quota - Shared folders use up the quota of everybody involved.

Instead get the other person to send you a link to www.dropbox.com/requests

Thank you for your reply. I just learned that they also have a 2GB free account which I didn't realize. We did the 'request' link and it obviously didn't work, now we know why. Will have to figure another solution. I appreciate your suggestions. Cheers.
