.Txt Files Crash Dropbox on iPad Air

.Txt Files Crash Dropbox on iPad Air

Hello.

I have a 1st gen iPad Air running ios 12.5.3.

Recently, I've been unable to open .txt files, .pdf files, and .html files. They simply crash the app. But .wav files and ,png files open perfectly.

I've deleted and reinstalled the app and the problem persists.

THIS JUST IN!

Just downloaded the latest Dropbox update.

Problem solved—Dropbox can open all those files again!

I can only conclude that the tech team at Dropbox saw my post and rushed out a fix. 😁

Hello there @Chimpo, thanks for joining our Community and sorry to hear about this.

Can you please try clearing the app's cache and let us know if you notice any improvements?

To do so, please follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the “Personal” tab
2. Tap the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
3. Select “Clear Cache”

Afterwards, please log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.

Thanks!

I see, thanks for keeping me in the loop @Chimpo.

Out of curiosity, are you able to preview those files normally through a web browser?

Does it happen for all files of those types or some specific ones?

Logged into the Dropbox website on the iPad. The text files open perfectly. Tried the "View In App" option. The app opens to the Dropbox logo, goes black for two seconds, then the app crashes. When I say "crashes" I mean I'm immediately returned to my iPad home screen.

And this happens for all .txt files.
