Unable to open Excel Files

Unable to open Excel Files

New member | Level 2

I recently purchased a new Macbook Pro (M1 chip). I installed Microsoft Office suite from the Apple Store and Excel seems to open just fine when I use it locally. However when I try to open an Excel file to Excel desktop from Dropbox, nothing happens. Excel shows it's active on my desktop but does not open the files. It's almost unresponsive. I have to either restart my machine or force quite several times before and then it actually opens the Excel file. This must be something with Dropbox... I have tried both Dropbox Desktop and Dropbox App- opening files responds the same way as I mentioned above. What gives? I use Excel daily and this is really frustrating!

Thank you,

Hi @Jesicatrejo, thanks for joining the Community!

Could you clarify where you're opening the files from exactly?

Are you trying to do so from the Dropbox site, or from within the Dropbox folder?

What happens if you try to open the file when the desktop app has been closed completely?

This will help me to assist further!
