Hello!

A colleague has sent me a link to a dropbox folder, her permissions are set so I can edit. I can access the folder and I have added it to my personal dropbox. What I'd like to do is upload photos to the folder which I have done in my dropbox but I appear to need to reshare the folder, which doesn't feel right, I just want it to update the existing folder - what (inevitably simple) things am I missing..

Hey @MrGAkehurst, welcome to our Community!

The thing is that a shared link gives you view and download access, that's why you were able to save the folder to your Dropbox, but your updates didn't sync to the original folder.

Can you have your colleague share the folder via an email invitation, by following the steps in this article?

Let me know how that goes!

I was sent a link to a publicly available folder. I clicked to upload a movie to it. But it goes into a folder called “only you” and I cannot figure out how to just put it in the public access. I can see other movies from others and I can see mine. But no one else can see mine.

Hey @JohnJansen, welcome to our Community!

Can you clarify if you've been added to a shared folder, or if you've been sent a shared link?

What steps did you follow to add the folder to your account?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

I was sent a link to a folder and told I should upload a video to that folder. I click the link and I can see a folder with other videos in it. It is very unclear what I'm supposed to do, so I clicked a button that says "Save to Dropbox". Now I can see an "Upload" button, so I click that and then "Files" and I click to select the file and it shows up in the folder. In the "Members" column it says "Only you".

So what I think has happened so far is that I have saved the folder to my local copy of my dropbox and I've placed my video in my local copy of the folder, but I cannot see any way to "sync" it back to the original folder so others can see it as well.

Thanks for the help.

Happy Monday @JohnJansen

You're entirely right, this is what you've done on your end.

The best way would be for you to share the content with the person that you want.

Give it a go, and let me know if you have any questions.
