Using DB with either a File Server or NAS

Using DB with either a File Server or NAS

Larry Dill

We're a small creative agency and need to share and backup client project files more easily. Large files, e.g. 4k video, are stored and edited on workstations and then need to be handed off to the next person to work on. Does anyone have experience integrating DB with either a NAS or file server (RAID) and incremental DB backups so no work is ever lost?

Thanks!

Larry

Hey @Larry Dill

We have a feature that allows you to backup your external hard drive to Dropbox.

This might be helpful for you and solve your worries.

Hey @Larry Dill, thank you for posting here!

Keep in mind that Dropbox only supports internal storage. NAS and other network shares are not supported.

You can definitely use them. However, the possible risks are up to you. Dropbox won't work correctly if the Dropbox folder ever becomes inaccessible.

You can also have a look at this Help Center article.

Thanks Megan - I did a little sleuthing but was unable to come up with info you provided so it was quite helpful as was the link provided. Still pondering an architecture that DB would support and not overwhelm workstations and laptops with unnecessary sync data.

Would you say a large external drive at each workstation just for DB shared project work files might do it? Other thoughts?
