Weird upload speed issues

New member | Level 2

I have a Gigablast connection with Cox so my dowload speeds are advertised 1k mb/s and uploads 35mb/s. The last few weeks however my upload speed to dropbox have been hovering around 1,500 KB/sec. I've tried using a vpn and resetting the router but the vpn actually makes it slower and resetting the router only makes it slightly faster for about a minute. Strangely enough when using the app, that I have set to no limits upload,  set to anything faster than 10,000 KB/s it will temporarly boost my upload to about 4,500 KB/sec before going back down to 1,500 KB/sec.    I've read on the forums that this could be due to traffic due to covid but it also doesn't make any sense why it should upload faster when I set it from no limits to an actual limit.

Dropboxer

Hey @pcskydiving, thanks for checking in with us.

It be that there's a third party app, like a security software or antivirus, that's hindering the desktop app.

For this reason, could you temporarily close/disable them, to see if that triggers a change?

Could you also make sure that you've configured your firewall to work with Dropbox?

Let me know how it goes, thanks!
