All the documents in one of my folders have disappeared but the folder is still there. They are part of my genealogy file and are all the birth, marriage and death certificates, baptisms, census entries, wills and other documents for a particular family that I have downloaded from the the net. I don't see how I could have accidentally deleted them, particularly without deleting the folder; there must be safeguards to prevent accidental deletions, ie a message asking if you want to continue with deleting. I have not logged in to dropbox for some time and haven't used it much in the last year or so and it looks like whatever happened did so some time ago as I cannot recover the files and they do not show up in Events or in Deleted Files.
Can anyone suggest what might have happened? I suspect that there is little chance of getting them back.
Dropbox can only do what its told to do - so it itself cannot delete or remove files etc. However, what can happen is that an application or program offers to keep files organised and as such move everything in to its own directories - thats often what happens when things like this happen (e.g. Apple iTunes).

This happened to me a while back. I had changed my email and when i tried to switch to a new email on the Dropbox account and got into my account it was totally emty. I contacted Dropbox and they said i must have deleted everything but i did not. I had not used the account for some time, i was not happy with this. I gave up and dont know what happened to the photos i stored there.....
