Why did I get an email about deleted files?

I got the notice below. A while ago (not a few days ago) I removed most of Dropbox from a MacBook Air that had no more room, but I did not delete from the system or from another computer that I use: Why did I get this?

Hi Richard,

You recently deleted 5811 files from your Dropbox account. If you want these files back, you can still restore them until 1/20/2020. After that, they’ll be permanently deleted.

These are the files you deleted:

Hi @RAL37, welcome to the community!

This notification means that files were deleted from your account. Since you said you ‘removed most of Dropbox’, did you actually delete the files from the MacBook in question?

If so, the deletions would have synced to the site and deleted from there and all other connected devices, assuming that the Dropbox desktop application was running as normal.

If you need to recover the deleted files, you can do so from this page.

Just so you know, I removed some sensitive details from your post for your own privacy.

Let me know if this was the case, or if you need any further assistance!
