Why is Dropbox downsampling music files saved from iMessage to Dropbox on the iPhone

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

A .m4a audio file saved to Dropbox from iMessage on the phone is drastically downsampled, resulting in a file that is barely 40% the size of the original...with attendant dramatic reduction in the audio quality, as would be expected. Who's doing this, Dropbox or Apple? And why isn't there a way to disable this downsampling?

Hey @greyj

To better determine the case, you could reference the filesizes and see where the issue is located.

Specifically, you can have a look at the size of the original file, the downloaded and the one uploaded on Dropbox. Do they match?

Please keep me updated here!
