Why is my hard drive running constantly?

Why is my hard drive running constantly?

I have been a customer for years and suddenly my hard drive is running constantly. It appears there is an issue with sync. Never had one before.  When I pause Dropbox, my hard drive is quiet. I noticed about 100 placeholder files today. I have not recently added or deleted files.

Hi @GlobalFilms, thanks for posting on the Community!

 

I'm sorry to hear about this. It sounds like you're using Smart Sync, so some files have been added to your account, most likely via the site.

 

How many files do you have on your Dropbox account currently? Have you allowed time for the files to sync? What is the status of the Dropbox icon when you hover over it in the system tray/menu bar?
