buggy search routine

buggy search routine

Explorer | Level 3

Hi,

I have created a simple document and listed all days and a few numbers.

Bildschirmfoto 2021-01-03 um 12.45.18.png

Now I have a few use cases under wich the document will be found accordingly:

"Monday"

"Monday Th"

"Monday Thursday"

"Monday Thursday 808"

"Monday 808 Thu"

"Monday 808 Thursday"

"Monday Thursday 8"

Everything as expected but searching for following will result in a empry result set:

"Monday 8 Thursday" is empty >> expected to be same as "Monday Thursday 8"

"Monday Thu 808" is empty >> expected to be same as "Monday 808 Thu"

"8 Monday" is empty >> expected to be same as "Monday 8"

To me this behaviour is clearly a bug. The search semantic is very limited in the first place, but this behaviour should be corrected, so that searching for "Monday Tue" should result in the same result set as searching for "Tue Monday" / "Tue Mon" / "Mon Tue" / "Monday Tuesday".

Any comments are appreciated.

Hello @DoubleCheeseBurger, thanks for checking in with us and for your feedback.

Out of curiosity, are you using the search function of the website, the desktop app, or the mobile app?

Do you find that this happens with other files as well?

Looking forward to hearing back from your!

Hi Lusil,

I can confirm that this behavior exists on all platforms as well as different type of documents (pdf, xlsx, doch, scanned PDFs/OCR) as well as different documents in general and different languages (e.g. German Umlauts like äöü etc).

To me it seems that the backend search Engine is not working as expected.

Cheers
Ed

So, is this a confirmed bug? Or do I need to submit this somewhere?
