deleting a shared folder

If I delete a shared folder from my account (I am not the owner of the folder), will the files I uploaded to that folder remain in the folder?  I want the files to stay in the folder, which I won't need further access to, but I need to clear up space in my account.

Yes, but you want to remove the shared folder from your account, rather than deleting it.

I did this the wrong way. It's terrible I have a million folders listed under https://www.dropbox.com/share/recents and you can't get rid of them.

If you try, it's a 15 step process for each folder, add back to your account, find where it is under other folders, change owner again, unshare, delete again, just not useful at all.

So if I follow the temporary removal steps that allow me to add the folder back, that ensures my files will remain in the folder, even if I can't see the folder unless I add it back?
