disable dropbox backup need filles back on my computer

I want to disable dropbox backup sync - my documents folder is EMPTY on my IMAC - now I have to download all of my files to my computer? Dropbox just suddenly decided to backup my desktop, documents and downloads folders today - I did not go into the preferences and change them.  I only have certain files (like files shared with associates) on my dropbox and I am using the free basic service.  I have Time Machine and several external drives to backup my data locally and have no need for a full backup on Dropbox.  It's taking hours to grab my files back

Hi @pafowler, thanks for your post!

If you don't want your desktop to be backed up to your Dropbox, you can disable the computer backup feature and move your files back to their original locations.

Let me know if you have any questions.
