How do I stop Dropbox from automatically sending file shared notices ( and obtrusively asking people to create an account)

I only want folks who are getting access to a shared file to get an email with a link FROM ME

Create the link, then copy and paste the into a new message in your mail client and email it yourself. If you use Dropbox to invite the recipient, it's going to email them directly.

If you use the tools within Dropbox to invite people, you CAN'T stop it from sending emails. That's the point. In order to invite someone, it has to email them. So, if you're just sending them shared links, create the link and email it yourself. Otherwise if you invite someone to a file or folder, Dropbox will send the email and you can't prevent that.
