iPhone MP4 Videos Uploading

iPhone MP4 Videos Uploading

For years I have been using Dropbox to upload photos/videos to my computer. I just noticed I cannot play any videos not even in iTunes (black screen with audio but no video). I noticed the iPhone MP4 files are labeled MOV in Dropbox. What is going on and are all my videos ruined? I have tried downloading video players and so far nothing is working. I need a long term solution! Thanks.

Hi @AG_21, thanks for messaging today!

If the audio is working, but not the video, then it sounds like the codecs for the video aren't working for some reason.

Does the video play normally on the site itself?

Keep me updated with any details!

I can save the videos directly from iCloud to my computer and they play fine. If the video is downloaded from Dropbox to my computer it's no longer in MP4 and will not play. Even the free players I've downloaded can't play the video normally. Why is Dropbox converting from MP4 to MOV?

Dropbox doesn't automatically convert videos to another format without any user input.

If the file is on the Dropbox site as a .mp4, but browser itself is saving the file as a .mov file, then it would be related to how the browser is saving the files.

Does changing the extension to mp4 after it's downloaded make a difference?
