Hi - hope someone can help me.
I have been a user of dropbox for years and find it very useful.
Installed and all good on my MacBook Air but when I try and open a file directly from finder on my MacBook I get:
So I click "Grant Access" but then the file won't open and I get this error:
Can anyone help or explain what I am doing wrong please?
Hello @Johnnykick, from the sync icon next to your excel file, it could be that the file is not fully dowloaded. Can you please first right click, from smart sync menu make it local before opening? What happens to other excel files which has solid green sync icon?
I have the same problem. Making the file "Local" by right clicking > Smart Sync helps but this isn't the intended functionality. Is there another solution?
Hi @Mark B, how are you today?
Does this happen with all of your files within your Dropbox folder, or just specific ones?
If you notice this behavior on Excel files only, let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Megan, This seems to happen on all off-line files, although the "Grant File Acces" pop-up only seems to appears on office files (pptx, docx, xlsx) where as, for example a pdf, goes straight to a 'The file "XX" couldn't be opened' pop-up.
Interesting, @Mark B!
Would it be okay for me to send out an email to you, so we can have a closer look into this?

Hi Megan, Yes welcome to! Have to admit though that the problem resolved itself after a reinstall and restart.. Should have tried that first! Will let you know if it returns.

Hi Elixir,
This is happening again to me even on local files.
I can't access any Excel files now. I can access word files and other office docs just excel.
It does the same as before - the files are all ticked green as being local files as well!?!?
can you help?
Hi @Johnnykick, hope you don’t mind me jumping in.
Can you clarify what’s the exact OS that you’re using?
Also, I’d appreciate it if you can send me the app version of your Dropbox app, as well as a screenshot of what you see when accessing these files. Just make sure none of your personal info is showing.
Thanks a lot!
