Hi Dropbox. I just recently started using dropbox. I need it to share specific files with other dropbox users in my organization. I just found out that ALL my files have been copied to dropbox, instead of only the few files that need to be shared. How can I prevent dropbox from making copies of all my documents?
Thanks Jay for your help! I probably have enabled the backup function unintentionally. I don't know how I did it.
Following the instructions to disable the function, I am facing a new problem: I can't find the Preferences button anywhere. And I'm not even sure if I get the right screens when I open the Dropbox app on my laptop. Instead of an interface to the application, I am seeing a Explorer-type screen with Dropbox folder contents and also Getting Started With Dropbox documents - but nowhere a Preferences option. What am I doing wrong? (Sorry for the low level questions, I'm new to this and certainly not an expert)
Hi Jay. Just a few minutes later, I found the App screen with the Preferences button, just by opening a file on my laptop. I have unchecked the Documents and Desktop folders, and it was confirmed that these folders are no longer being backed up. So it seems the problem is solved now. Thanks for your help! - Piet
