I want to delete  some of the files from dropbox to free up some space but want  these files to remain intact on my pc/smartphone /laptop/mac .  I don't know  how dropbox behaves with files on my PC/smartphone/laptop/mac when they are deleted  from dropbox.

Regards

Hi there @mcbothra99, thanks for reaching out to us.

Any changes you make to files in your account, including deletions, are reflected on the website and any device that has our apps installed.

If you want remove your files from your Dropbox account but keep them on your:

  • Mobile: You can export them to your internal storage.
  • Computer: Move them or copy them to any other location on your device.

I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!
