why does my abount of space matter for uploading to a linked folder

why does my abount of space matter for uploading to a linked folder

Hello, I have a small personal dropbox account.  But I have been sent a link from a business dropbox account, which of course has tons of space.  So that I can upload files to their space.  But I am error-ing out when trying to upload to THEIR folder, being told I don't have enough space.  Is that by design? Why would my amount of space matter if I am uploading TO another account's space?

You are not just uploading to their space, you are in a shared folder with them which includes read/write access to everything. So yes, that does use your quota up.

If you JUST need to upload something to them get them to send you a Dropbox Requests link instead: www.dropbox.com/requests

Thank you. Am going to have them try this today and will report back if that solves.
