A button to upload the original, edited or both versions of photos through camera uploads

Can there please be a setting on iOS to tell Dropbox ONLY to upload the edited images? I crop and edit a LOT of photos daily and you're creating so much extra work for me to go in and delete the wrong photos from my storage (as well as taking up double the storage space I'm paying for!!).

At least if it was always the 2nd one that was unedited, i could just go delete every other photo, but it uploads randomly. Sometimes the first one is edited sometimes the second.

This is incredibly frustrating and needlessly time-consuming!! Can you please add an option to choose "only originals" or "only edited" or "both"

Hey there @JayeCat - apologies for the late reply and thanks for the feedback on this!

As there have been others suggesting this too, I wanted you to know that I've already passed your comments on to our mobile team as a feature request for an option (or a switch) to choose whether you'd like to upload the original photos along with the edited ones or not when using our camera uploads feature.

Let me know if you have anything else to add!

PS: I'm cross-linking the relevant discussion for visibility:

@walter - it's nice to have a setting in the app to decide on this - but the easier change your team without having to extend the UI is to ONLY UPLOAD THE EDITED VERSION OF A PHOTO in case it was edited. As per the other thread the reason people make the edits is because this is how they want the photos, so the default behaviour should simply be this - rather than uploading both, and creating extra work for everyone having to delete the original unedited versions from Dropbox later on.

Currently the whole camera sync feature might as well not exist! I've stopped syncing photos and am considering to start using Icloud instead which does it correctly!

I agree. To futher expand. Photos that my iPhone doesn’t even count as edited, such as using portrait mode, upload as is and as one not in portrait mode. DROPBOX PLEASE STOP THIS. I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THIS AND THE RENEW IS $20 MORE A YEAR. THIS IS SUCH A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I will be canceling as soon as I find a suitable company to switch to.

Yes, please add the default behavior for Dropbox to only upload the edited pictures in the Dropbox folder.

Or add in the Settings the option for Dropbox to only upload the Edited pictures.

I take a lot of screenshot with my phone and edit a lot of pictures for my job. And currently havind double pictures uploaded it’s a pain inf the a*s to manage and clean.

I agree with all the other correspondents. Either only upload the edited version, or give users the option to choose. Dropbox is uploading “edited” versions of files that aren’t even “edited” in that I haven’t manually done any editing. This is ridiculous. Make the change, or lose me as a user of Dropbox - your choice.

Recently, many users started experiencing issues with multiple uploads of their pictures by Dropbox. It turned out, when you edit a picture on your phone, Dropbox will now upload two versions, the original and the edited version.

This is highly undesirable as numerous users have pointed out (for details see here , but e.g. the occupied storage space doubles and the double pictures need to be deleted manually).

Hence, I propose Dropbox to add an option to the picture upload settings where the user can decide to

1) upload only the original

2) upload only the edited picture (if available, otherwise the original of course)

3) both pictures are upload

Hello @dopexxx - I'm glad to see you followed my advice to post your idea in this section of our Community!

Our dev team are always looking for ways to make the Dropbox experience better for all of our users sp I will definitely make sure to pass your feedback and suggestion on to the relevant team.

I'll log this as a feature request for an option (or button/toggle) to be able to choose if you'd like the original photos, the edited ones or both when using our camera uploads feature.

If you have anything else to add or ask, do let us know please!

Uploading both original and edited photos it is a real annoyance, I feel it more like an abuse. Give it as an option to the users or reverse it back. It is very dificult to manage the Camera Uploads folder after yoou implemented this "feature".

I will switch to another provider if Dropbox does not take into account the user's real needs. You are very close to lose a customer, especially after "updating" recently my account with $20 more per year...
