Allow Vault files to be edited in place

Allow Vault files to be edited in place

Helpful | Level 5

Placing a file in vault means you can no longer edit it in the way you are used to. See https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Edit-files-in-vault-on-Windows/m-p/446135/high... for clarification. There are files that I would like to keep in vault but that I need edit access to on a daily basis.

The voting functionality does not seem to register votes at the moment, I can also see the counter jumping to zero when I try to vote.

As for the number of votes required, I've looked at other Dropbox Ideas that have status Delivered and the number of votes on them varies widely from under 10 votes to hundreds of votes, so there doesn't seem to be a clear target for the number of votes an idea must get. My guess is that the most important thing is for an idea to make sense to the development team for it to actually be implemented.

OK, so if anyone from Dropbox is monitoring this thread could you please respond and let us know if you are planning to develop anything in relation to teh Vault editing facility?

Thank you.

Yes, votes are not counting.  I have always wanted a way to keep certain apps from seeing your entire dropbox. I still think it would be good to have the ability to give permission for apps as to which folders they are able to access.  Others, they are never able to access.

This is a step in the right direction, but, as others have noted, these files are dynamically being adjusted day by day and there needs to be a way to edit them while in vault.

This is an obvious oversight for anyone who is in the real world.  Fix this quickly so my life improves.  Thank you!

Dropbox vault seemed like a good idea until I started using it. I'm disappointed that this wasn't a feature already. TBH, dropbox keeps letting me down with their upgrades not being useful. Is there a point to stay with dropbox since I'm already paying for office 365?
