Allow a personal account to have more than 3 TB

Allow a personal account to have more than 3 TB

Hello,

I'm a graphic designer with over 15 years of workload. This obviously equates to extreme files sizes. I was disappointed to learn Dropbox don't offer a package for single users over 3TB. I work solely and require more cloud space and don't want to have to upgrade to a 'per user' plan as this isn't cost effective. This option has to become available soon.

Same basic boat. I desire to get more storage at a reasonable cost. Say, 5TB at twice the price of a 2TB user plan. Not right to make me buy a 3 user business plan at 45 a month just to get to 5TB when I'm just one work-at-home guy. Need a better option for the freelancers.

I could benefit from another tier of Individual/Professional that offers 5TB of storage like the Standard Business plan.

I have been asking for an unlimited Individual/Professional plan for a long time. Please share and update this. I see this comment made at least once a week. The forum admins here always try to merge these comments into another thread which has already been de-activated, effectively hiding the number of people requesting this feature.

So please, if you are reading this and agree, leave you're own comment here stating that you want this feature so we can let the Dropbox Management know that they are LOSING money by not offering this service.

Hi Buck, while an unlimited plan would be interesting and appealing I think it would lead to a substantially different business/marketing model than simply adding ability to have a higher storage limit (for a fair price) on an individual plan.

Based on my (very long) history with Dropbox, I'd see these being two very distinct offerings, with the storage-bumped individual plan being more closely in alignment with Dropbox's existing model.

Nevertheless, the common request in these, that we can all agree on, is the need for individuals to HAVE THE OPTION FOR MORE STORAGE.

Its sad to hear you've been asking for a long time Buck21.

It seems such a simple option...they must be losing customers with the jump of price upgrading to perks we don't need.

Hi Carey, it's not much of a jump in their business model.

They currently offer Business plans with 5GB of space. The catch is, that a business plan is a minimum of 3 users. I am one user. So I am not going to pay for 3x the price to just get more than 3TB of space.

Also, once I become a Business User, it won't allow me to connect to other Business Teams which I sometimes do business with. It's just infuriatingly frustrating to deal with these limitations when everything else about their product is almost perfect. I currently have to use multiple cloud platforms because Dropbox doesn't have enough space.

But you're absolutely right, they do need to overhaul their business plan where features is not tied to storage limits.

As solo film maker it would be great to have the option to upgrade more storage in the Professional plan. I use dropbox as my Cloud backup for active projects and it's video files. But when having multiple projects running, 3TB is not enough.  So be able to buy 2Tb extra would be great.

Now the only option is to go to the standard / team plan, so that would be 36 euro's a month compared to 17 now. It's quite a big increase.

I am a graphic designer in exactly the same position. I upgraded to Standard last week because I had no other option and was running out of space. Today I find my folders are being moved which is slowing me down, and MAKING ME CRAZY.

I agree with this as well. Allow a  personal or family account to add more storage as needed. I would not add any limit. Sell 2 TB chunks (at a reasonable price) so one can add more space as needed. Storage is cheap these days, and I have bought several unlimited backup storage plans for around $100/year, so adding more storage at a reasonable price should not be difficult I would think. Those backup systems are not Dropbox, but if they can offer unlimited storage for around $100/year, you should be able to add incremental storage reasonable priced.
