Can we have a Dropbox Family plan?

Can we have a Dropbox Family plan?

Helpful | Level 6

Hi Dropbox,

I currently have a Dropbox Pro account that we share with the family of 4. I would like to have a separate account per family member, but I am not willing to pay for four Dropbox Pro accounts. I think there is a market for a Dropbox Family plan. My thinking is that the total space for the family is 1 TB, the size of a Pro account. You could charge a reasonable amount per additional family member. I envision that you limit the number of family members such that this will not compete with your Dropbox Business offering.

Kind Regards.

I tried to use Dropbox for this, but the economics didn't work and it was hard for everyone to use.  I ended up using the LifeSite Vault. It was easier to use. It seems like DB is trying to do they are doing, but DB Family pricing is high

@wanglloyd I'm looking at LifeSite now. The site says to contact sales for anything more than 5 GB, the free amount with Dropbox. I'm not sure I understand yet why LifeSite is interesting. What do you think is hard about Dropbox?

I use LifeSite Plus.  They are offering it for free because of Covid.  I use it with my family. Kids and my parents. I prefer it for this because its not just documents, but they have structured categories.  You fill in the fields for an insurance policy for example and I can attach the policy itself. I have my car insurance policy in there and I include car photos, VIN, also.  Honestly it helps me decide what to add and there are more things I can do.  I use DB alot for just file and some photo sharing.  I'm curious to see if DB Family gets to the ease of use I see in LS.  The sharing and Apple app is pretty cool with LS also.

@wanglloyd Before I switch to something else (like LifeSite Plus), I would like to know what it will cost beyond the Covid times. I can't find their pricing anywhere, unfortunately.

It sounds like LifeSite Plus has a significantly different approach. I am using Dropbox to mirror folders between computers, and to have a copy of those files somewhere in case something happens to my computer. It sounds like LifeSite Plus allows a more vault like approach where they manage it not on a file basis, but rather on an account basis, creating a virtual folder for that account. This does sound like an interesting concept, that Dropbox doesn't have as far as I know.

Great! it is accepted. Now let's wait another 15 years for them to move this request into the "Work in Progress" category. With some luck, people might be get to have family plans after arriving to the Elon f*ing Musk colony in Mars.
