Can we have an option for delaying the syncing process through the desktop app?

This idea was proposed as far back as 2015 but never implemented.  Dropbox aggressivey tries to sync a file as soon as it changes. But many of our technical apps require a long access during saving.  For example, Altium Designer saves a file in multiple steps.  As a result, as soon as it changes the file, dropbox takes over and starts synching.  But when Altium tries to finish the save and rewrite the file, it fails and issues an error.

This happens with many technical apps that use weird saving methods and is hurting our buisness.  I bet others have similar problems and avoid it but not saving directly into dropbox folders.

It would be nice if dropbox has a time delay mechanism. For example 1s or even more.  That can reduce the burden on Dropbox servers too as they are synching many versions of the file that are useless.  If the user could select say a 5 minute delay (in my case), at least 50 versions of the file/day would have been reduced on your servers.

Regards

Hi @PouryaShamsi; thanks for using Dropbox!

This idea is going to need a bit more support before we can share your suggestion with our team.

It is a good idea.

To take it further, I would also like to see the option of pausing sync alltogether for a set interval like 30 mins, 1 hour, 8 hours, 1 day. Similar to what OneDrive has. Syncing can be paused with Dropbox, but not for a set interval. Either on or off.
