Can we have an option to schedule syncing through the desktop app?

Can we have an option to schedule syncing through the desktop app?

Hello!
It came to mind today that it might be interesting to allow for a short delay between the moment a file is added and the moment it starts synchronizing with the servers. I often find myself, for example, unzipping a complete archive into a folder but only wanting to access part of the contents, so I delete the unwanted files but dropbox has already started trying to sync them. It would help to avoid a certain amount of unnecessary network transactions. Perhaps the gain would be negligible though.

I too would like to see this be an option. Would like to have the option to delay specific synced folders. When I do a save of files for web development, the file is automatically uploaded to the server on save - if Dropbox gets to this saved file first, the auto upload to the server fails as Dropbox has locked it. It's quite fustrating as I am saving web files for upload frequently.

I have this same issue as well! Now that I have my desktop and documents backed up on Dropbox, there are a lot of times when I'm working on a project that autosaves constantly, and so it's wasting 100x upload data for files that I don't even want to back up!

Please, please, please add an option for this!!

Is there a way to get Dropbox run as a service to sync files starting at a certain time then end syncing in the morning before the business day starts, and do it again that night?

We need it as a service because MS Windows sometimes reboots after updates and that, inevitably, is the one perticular day is when we needed the Dropbox to be running and already done updating before the user logs in.

Hello,

We have an scheduled task to run Adobe Acrobat Pro indexing every day at small hours "mid night".  Huge number of PDF files in our folders located in our Dropbox requires us to stop the Dropbox while the task of indexing is running because in the past we have noticed while the dropbox is up our indexing fails, so we kill the dropbox task at first run the indexing then we start the dropbox again via scheduled batch command.  It used to work in the past, recent update killing works but starting does not.

Ironically to start the dropbox does not even work via "windows Start Button/start dropbox" and the only way to start the dropbox again would be to restart the server.   I don't know if Killing the dropbox task has the effect or ... I have requested before if there is any graceful way to stop/start the dropbox via batch command scheduled task.  I have heard nothing.

Regards,

Jeff P.

Please add this, I would really like to only sync Dropbox on a nightly schedule, or at certain times during the day.

I am still wishing for this option. Dropbox is very nice for collaborating large files. But I do wish very much that I could sync only every 10 minutes. My internet usage would be decreased a lot.

I have set myself up with a solution that works well for me. I have a folder for my delayed Dropbox files (one way). I only needs these files as a one way backup and not syncing FYI. But I could turn it into syncing if I wanted.

I have a Mac so I’m using Carbon Copy Cloner to run a task that runs every night to backup that folder to my real Dropbox folder. The bonus for me is this backup can exclude files so I’m able to save on syncing even more by it automatically excluding node_modules and other files/folders I do NOT want syncing

Was there any update?

We are working as a graphic team in a dropbox folder structure.

So if I AI upscale a mov to a 4k mov I cannot rename the file until the upload is finished. And upload of a 2,5 Gigabyte Mov takes ages. I would like to set synch intervals like every 15 Minutes.
