Can we have more folder options like custom folders or sub-folders to add to Computer Backup?

Can we have more folder options like custom folders or sub-folders to add to Computer Backup?

Right now, the automated backup option in Dropbox allows me to sync my Documents, Desktop and Downloads folders. By far the biggest - and most important - folder on my computer is the Music folder though. I can imagine for other people it's Pictures. Could we have a way to automatically backup those folders too?

To be really ambitious: would we be able to clone our computer on Dropbox? I used to have an Apple Time Machine that allowed you to do just that. If your computer broke down or was stolen, you could buy a new one, let it download the clone, including not just your documents but your applications and presets too, and you'd be good to go!

Please let Dropbox be the new Time Machine.

Another request for more folder options in Backup, please. Especially 'Pictures', but ideally the ability to select any folder within a user's root folder on Mac.

No Idea why, but I just went back to check if Dropbox backup might be usable now. Answer is "NO" (why did I even bother?): If your Windows shell folders (Documents, Pictures, Music, etc,) are not in their default location, then Dropbox will refuse to back them up. So, long story short, Dropbox backup remains useless for me and countless others. 🙄

I, too, would love this feature.

Well, it's clear that Dropbox is well aware of customers' need for this option and still avoids arranging it for one reason or another, they even try to prevent us from the option such as preventing backing up user folders that are not in the default location, as well as preventing the use of Sym Link, too bad

Hello everyone in this thread, I believe there is plenty of you recieving updates to mailbox. I am always sad when another dissatisfied comment pops up. Is there somebody with idea how to force our requirement to developers? Is there any other way, how we can achieve discusion or at least interest from developers?

Wish a good day to everyone!

This is strange. I have two Macs - a Macbook Air and an iMac - both running the same version of Dropbox (v135.4.4221). Both have a 'Pictures' folder in the same location.

When I try to select folders for backup on the Macbook, 'Pictures' is available as an option. But on the iMac it isn't.

I've had a live chat with Dropbox Support, who are useless - the guy there just kept telling me that it's not possible to allow the 'Pictures' folder to appear as a backup option on my iMac, even though it obviously is available on the Macbook under the exact same version of the Dropbox app.

This needs resolving ASAP.

Agreed!

Please allow us to back up specific folders!

Thanks!

Dropbox finally got back to me with a response - which was that backing up the Pictures folder from a Mac is only supported on OS 10.14 and newer (which doesn't help me, because my 2011 iMac is stuck on OS 10.13.6).

What a lazy, shoddy excuse. I'm sure they could make it work very easily if they wanted to.
