Hi, I find limited in the choices of subscription plans. Basic/free and Pro/110$
I'd gladly pay something like 25$ a year for 50GB and a 2 users family plan.
Considering iCloud have a 12$ plan for 20 GB and 48$ for 200GB, that seems reasonable..
Indeed, they are not even trying to compete these days.
Google, Microsoft OneDrive, etc. So much cheaper.
Dropbox have always had this pricing structure and have previously, frequently, said they lose money on smaller plans - so many people downgrade.
Also, you need to remember that iCloud and Office365 offerings are subsidised by other things, Dropbox isnt.
the issue price seems a steal: Paying for 1TB when, I guess many with 100 GB is enough for us.
Also, pay a bill for me, one for my wife, if my son wants another .... the end we must work to dropbox.
I have already changed several accounts dropbox to other companies, so for the price of an account in dropbox I can pay 5 in the competition.
you put the batteries, but in the end had just sinking
To upgrade to pro, it says £79 for 1 year when I try from my mac but showing £69.99 when I try from my iPhone. Could anyone tell me what the difference is?
Same account type, its still a paid one. No differences what so ever in functionality.
There was a topic sometime ago about it. If I recall correctly it is due to exchange rates One is processed by Dropbox as a credit card transaction, and the other through Apple app store. Im, sorry thats all I recall off hand.
Just a note from one user to another:
Using your Mac the upgrade can be purchased monthly or yearly. The upgrade on the phone would be yearly only.
If you went monthly from the Mac then you can cancel during any month should you have need to do so.
Thanks very much- that is really helpful
I Have the same issue with dropbox. I am using it for almost 2 years, and I got 48 GB from my Samsung that will expire in a few months.
But 2GB is to little for me, and a paid plan is to expensive and too much storage for me.
I am keeping an eye on dropbox and see if they offer more free space or add a cheaper plan, otherwise I must move. Seems copy.com (https://copy.com?r=nbHFqr) is a similar service with 15GB free.
its the same price as all the others. $10/mo for 1 tb is about the going rate these days. seems pretty cheap to me. some other cheaper services are not as easy to use, not as reliable and not as compatible. some others are full of ads and very un-secure because they allow public access and no way to track who has access to your files. i have used almost all cloud services and find dropbox to be reasonably priced and focus on file sync and storage rather than trying to do too many things at once like some services.
I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for a good product, but almost $96 more than google's $2/100G is just too much. I'm sure they can come up with some kind of pricing plan at a lower tier, people understand bulk pricing. They could even mask that they charge a bit more than google by using different storage sizes. $5 for 200GB? Over twice what Google charges, but it's still $50/year less than the 1TB option.
I could see myself using 200GB at some point. If I've come to use Dropbox that much, I'd be perfectly okay jumping up to the 1TB option... but the thought of hitting the ground paying $96 for space I won't be using leaves a foul taste in my mouth.
I'm having same issue as well, my Samsung promotion plan expires in 2 month. and i don't mind paying for the storage space, but i only need 50~100gb. Dropbox is offering $12 for 1TB, where OneDrive or GoogleDrive is offering $2 for 100gb.
Dropbox please offer 100gb ~ 200gb option as well. else i may have to switch in 2 month time :(
