Can we have raw file previews?

Can we have raw file previews?

After so many years working with photographers, who store loads of pictures in server, Dropbox is still not previewing RAW files... It is more than urgent fix for Dropbox. Every time i get the link  - i have to download hundreds of Gb just to locate one file...

Is this issue getting to be fixed in the near future?

I agree, just solve it. Now I have to store my pictures at Google and documents at Dropbox. Its so annoying. I will problably leave Dropbox soon if they dont fix this.

Cheers!

I am sure the problem is very processor intensive for generating all of those image previews on the server side for Dropbox.  As a photographer if you want a quick workaround, you can set bridge or a photoshop action to generate a JPG preview file to automatically generate every time your RAW file XMP metadata gets updated. Problem solved, you lazy fux!

RAW file previews are now supported for some file types. See here for more information:

"good news, everyone!"

I can confirm that DNG and CR2 are now supported, I can see the preview.

Great work.

EDIT: this was in the web interface. Unfortunately the phone app shows the thumbnails but not the previews.

I'm wondering what kind of files i'm able to preview. https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/6 doesn't mention anything regarding RAW files, even though it is linked in the article.

I have tried a number of different RAW files (CR2 from 350D, 30D, 40D, 7D), DNG from iPhone 7 and ARW from Sony a6000 bot neither of them are displaying in the IOS apps on iPhone 7 and iPad Air 2. They do display in the web app, and i do see little thumbnails. But when i try to view a RAW file i get the ".cr2-files can't be viewed in the preview-window" (.cr2-bestanden kunnen niet worden bekeken in de voorbeeldweergave).

I've updated the ipad app to the newest version 42.2.2. Am i missing something?

Same as @Brainfrz, thumbnails and previews work nicely on the web, but the previews do not show up in the iOS app -- the thumbnails do.

Same here. I can see thumbnails of my .NEF files but no preview. Very disappointing. Contacted support; got a generic "thanks, we're always looking for input in designing our next version of the app" email. Meh.

Latest version fixed this problem for me. I'd have loved some feedback like "We're aware of this issue" or "it'll be fixed in the next release". Or even a mention in the changelog other than "small changes and corrections" would have been great.

@Brainfrz - a change log in general would be nice 🙂
