Cross platform synching of folders/files with special characters does not work.

Cross platform synching of folders/files with special characters does not work.

Hey there,

I just figured this out and wanted to report this bug. I use dropbox on three devices: Smartphone (Android), Laptop (Linux Mint), and Desktop (Windows 10). I created a folder called "???" on my smartphone and added images to it. Since special characters for folder- and file-names are not supported by Windows 10, they will not get synchronized. But even worse, there is no notice about it!

The files and the folder show up on the Linux Laptop as well as in the Browser on the Desktop machine. So it is only affecting local synchronization.

Hi @simi123456,

:grinning face with big eyes::slightly smiling face: LOL, Yes this might be considered as a "bug" (to some extent), but what could do an application (including Dropbox application) about it? Why don't you redirect this idea to Microsoft? They are Windows developer! :winking face:

Good luck.

Hey @Здравко

Thanks for your reply. I would suggest informing the user about files/folders, that could not be synchronized locally. Like a warning, if there are fewer files/folders locally than remote (With selective synchronization disabled of course). Regardless of the issue that windows do not allow the characters, would it be a better user experience to handle this in some way
