File quantity warning

Helpful | Level 5

Right now we can see how much storage we're using but - especially with the increase to 2TB - the limiting factor for many accounts is the file-count.  Since the Dropbox software has a soft limit of 330,000 files (or is it files+folders <300k?), a warning when we approach that limit, or attempt to exceed it by uploading a large qualityt of files, would be very helpful.

Further, a function to see how close we are to this limit would be useful. I can easily see how much of the 2TB I'm using, but there is no way to tell how many files I'm at.

(part of this stems from me not realizing that the AutoCAD installation folder I uploaded to Dropbox has 500,000 files in it, though only about 60GB of data. When I moved that folder to a different location it caused Dropbox to melt down on every computer in my house, and now nothing is syncing)

Hey there @jordan T.9,

Thanks for taking the time to let us know your ideas on this feature that you'd like to see implemented! Just to note, I've moved your post over to our "Share an idea" section of the Community so that others can also upvote your idea. This helps us to track the feedback on this request more efficiently!

In the meantime, I can suggest a workaround which you can do by first locating the Dropbox folder in your File Explorer. Then, right click the Dropbox folder and choose "Properties" and you'll see the total number of files and folders within that location.

Have a great day - Thanks!
