Dropbox Cast image and Pictures to Chrome Cast - feature request

Cast_icon.png
I am super happy with my Dropbox license which is widely used on Android, iPad, and Windows 10 systems.

However, I miss one feature:
The ability to cast directly from Dropbox on Android and iOS systems.

I'm aware that you can set up your Android device to mirror the screen of a Chrome Cast, but it's cumbersome, and not always very reliable. Often the connection is lost and you have to set up the Mirror again.

If you are using an IOS device, mirroring of the screen is not possible. I realize that there are work around solutions that can be used, for example to use a browser and cast it, but it's not super functional.

My wish, and probably millions of other Dropbox users, is therefore:

Can we get:
Chrome Cast -  integrated directly into the Dropbox App - for Android and iOS devices ? ? ?

It will certainly be a feature that will be widely used.

Another vote for Dropbox integration with Chromecast! I export dailies for my documentary team to view via Dropbox and it would be great way for them to easily view these exports on their TV.

Dropbox should seriously consider this idea to add this basic feature at least for the media files.

I like to see chromecast supported in a simple way. Allow me to create a playlist (like in YouTube) that I can create to cast as a slide show. Pic to display for x seconds. Vid to play. Auto next or manual. I would be able to browse any of my other folders and select specific pics/vids/folders to be added to this playlist, order the items on the list, give this a cool name and intro text, and let me share this to customers or staff or resellers or outsourced companies who will treat this as a deck or demo or backdrop of a speech/wedding/marketing booth/exhibition loop/zoom background etc. Business opportunity is unlimited. This turns Dropbox into not only a repository but live album that I’ll recommend my clients to subscribe to for their digital asset which is directly castable at remote locations. It’s read only, just a list of pointers, shareable, that’s it. Hope it makes sense.

Hi @Walter

How many votes do I need for my Chromecast support proposal before you pass it on to your developers?

Best regards

This should just be implemented, I made this forum account just to upvote this.

It's such a nuisance to use the "Smart View" functionality on my phone to cast since it doesn't work half the time and the quality is really bad, when I download a single picture for example and cast it that way, it's much much better.

Your competitor Google has this feature build in both Google Drive and Google Photos...

Come-on Dropbox, please. How many votes do you need? This is an idea that could sell itself and attract use of your pleatform.

Hi @Walter

When will Dropbox join the wave of modern apps with Chromecast functionality?

40 votes should be enough + the good idea. Is it time to move on?

Best regards

I already asked for chromecast.

As it did not exist, I copied all my videos and photos to google photos.

But, as google photos is no longer free, It would be a good argument for users wanting to quit google photos for buying dropbox.

Uses Dropbox to store photos. Becomes many over the years. Would like to show them to loved ones. Therefore, I miss the ability to cast / stream from iphone to tv. This also applies to documents that you want to show. Would appreciate if you implanted this feature.
