Linux client for Dropbox Passwords

Linux client for Dropbox Passwords

Would be great to see a Linux client for Dropbox Passwords! Currently, the browser plugin / extension doesn't work on Linux since a desktop app is required.

Dropbox Passwords would be useful, and besides, we're registered users of Dropbox. Why not bring the full toolkit to us?

Any type of support for Linux OS distributions is necessary.

Please implement this.

Would be great to see a plan for this, perhaps starting at the command line and working up through a desktop app and then finally browser integration.

Might be the sort of thing the open source community could rustle up if the API (or format) were documented

+1!

In our case, we were about to move to the business plan as Dropbox is available for Ubuntu, but this was the deal-breaker that made us decide to move into the paid version. Will wait or search for another solution and stay in the free tier..

Having a client for macOS, it should not be difficult to port it to Ubuntu. It could be packaged with Homebrew as it works in macOS and other Linux distros.

We settled on the paid version of Dropbox due to linux support. A Dropbox Password client for Linux  would be a great and much needed adition.

I would like to upvote this. Surprised to see that it wasn't already on Linux.

@Emma any chance there's an update from the team on this feature since your January post?

Hi all,

Some good news to share 🎉

Instead of downloading the Dropbox Passwords app, you will now just need to install a browser extension to use Passwords on Linux.

The extension is available across Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.

You can find more information on installing and setting up Dropbox Passwords here.

Thank you for sharing your idea with us! 😊

Hey @Emma that's really great news!! But I'm encountering some issues still. I followed the instructions for Chrome here: https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/download-dropbox-passwords. And clicking through, I still get an error:

Dropbox Passwords isn't available on this computer yet

Come back to this page on a PC with Windows 10 or a Mac with at least macOS Sierra 10.12 to get the Passwords desktop app.
