To increase revenue and operating income, the company could look into the idea of monetizing none-paying users with ads

Are these like comments by those who were fortunate to be able to finish school, ( I have an above-average score on GED, don't pay the bills nor make me less intelligent)  Sure, charge them all!!

As a free user, I wouldn't entirely oppose having ads, but only if:

  1. I get additional bonus/privileges to compensate. For example, an increased device limit or additional storage. Otherwise I'm receiving only negatives from ads without any benefit, and sadly I fear this would be the case. If there's no benefits, then it's a 100% no from me.
  2. The ads are not intrusive. I already get ads from Dropbox about upgrading from time to time, particularly if storage is nearly fill. Having an ad appear when I click on the Dropbox icon is one thing, but having an ad appear everytime I turn on the computer would be intoxicating

Keep in mind that ads may discourage people from signing on as paid users and potentially lower incomes.
