Need to save sort order in specific folders

Need to save sort order in specific folders

I would very much like to see the ability to specify the sort order of specific shared folders, so my "viewers" will see the files in the order intended. Each folder requires a different sort method for different reasons, and I wish we could set it, and save it, for each individual folder. Is there anything I'm missing about this functionality?

No, that's not possible. People are free to sort their files how they wish.

Umm...Actually, that's incorrect. When someone only has "viewer" privileges through a folder link, they aren't offered ANY sorting capability, at all. That's not very free, if you ask me.

Actually, that's not incorrect. You stated a shared folder; not a share link to a folder. Members of a shared folder are able to sort the files, even if their access is view-only. The following is a shared folder where I have view-only access, and as you can see, I'm able to sort the content just fine:

>

Now, if you're referring to a share link to a folder, and not a shared folder, then you are correct that the content cannot be sorted, nor can you specify the sort order that viewers will see.

Semantics... Allow me to rephrase my original post, as I am, in fact, referring to a share link to a folder, in which I would very much like to see the ability to specify the sort order of specific shared folders, so my "viewers" (via share link to a folder) will see the files in the order that I intended. Call it a feature request. 🙂

I would really like to see this made possible, as well.

You guys are posting a lot of fancy design updates, but how about adding basic functionality like I have in Finder? When I go to my Camera Uploads folder, I really want to see my most recent photo. However, they they are sorted by name with no option to change that, so what I'm presented with is a uesless view of photos I took several years ago. There appears to be functionality in the UI to change the sort, but when I click on it nothing happens.

Please make this view as functional as a regular file system.

Click on 'Modified' and it will change to newest at the top.

@mark there is no option to click Modified in the list view. Bug?
