On Friday 10/8/21 had a massive amount of notifications labeled as "file deleted"- 3, 10, 300, etc. It was panic on the highest order! We run our business using Dropbox. I chatted with tech support for a lengthy time and no solution- they could not see any deleted files in my account/ event history. I discovered the issue after much research. The files were not actually deleted! What happened was they became unsynced to my local drive. I was in Preferences/Selective Sync and somehow every folder I had checked as synced got unclicked- I was in a hotel with a slow internet connection coupled with a sticky touch pad and I think something happened and every folder got unselected. Then, they were all unsynced. So actually the notifications should not have been labeled “deleted” but rather “unsynced”. If this is a difference Dropbox can build into it’s notification system that would be huge! If a file or folder is truly deleted then it’s deleted and one should see it in the deletions/event report. If a file is merely unsynced then it is just that. I recommend Dropbox update this notification system.
