Searchable IPTC Metadata

Searchable IPTC Metadata

I am opening a new thread to specifically request that the search engine searches in the IPTC Metadata.

Currently, the search engine searches by file name, and folder name and also looks for elements in the photos using the AI engine.

We want the search engine to index the IPTC metadata in order to be able to search with the photos' keywords.

I hope this is clear. Check the image below to make it clearer 🙂 Again, I want to search THOSE keywords shown below and get results

We are archiving tons of photos. People on images, situations etc in metadata, but dropbox not able to find it. Talked directly with sales staff years ago - told this will come. Every year same story 🙂 This is really necessary function - there are good tools in lightroom and etc to add tags for multiple files - it is not reasonable to tag all files one by one in dropbox.

I find it very necessary for us photographers to insert the possibility to search for the IPCT keywrds saved in the files. Since dropbox is already able to readthem ... it would also be very useful if it was able to search for photos via IPCT Schermata 2022-08-17 alle 15.59.52.png

Our graphics team is having to look to other storage solutions for our image files because the only way we can search the IPTC Metadata (i.e. Keywords added in Adobe programs) is to sync the files to our computers then search using finder.

We need to be able to search our keywords (and other IPTC Metadata) while the files are not synced or from the web browser search bar.

Please add the ability to search by metadata for image files. This missing feature is the only thing keeping me from reinstating my Dropbox paid plan. We would all benefit so much from being able to search for photos by embedded keywords in Dropbox.

IPTC is a durable, open standard, and is the most sustainable way to document info about images for historical and genealogical research, including photographed manuscripts and objects. This article advises genealogists to shun image management tools that do not support EXIF and especially IPTC metadata. Researchers and others can work around the lack of searchable metadata in Dropbox with the open-source app Tropy -- but only if all the files are stored locally. I don't expect Dropbox to match every metadata scheme out there and to make them all searchable, but I do want it to master one. IPTC is the one metadata standard that would make the most difference to the most users.

Definitely a need. I'm already tagging images via CaptureOne. Be nice if the people I share with could search quickly, accurately (AI is good, but not always) and easily.
