Smart Sync from External Drive

Smart Sync from External Drive

It would be great if it were possible to upload large files directly from an external hard drive to the Dropbox servers using the Smart Sync tool or another tool. I'm a filmmaker trying to get video footage to a remote editor and am currenltly limited to uploading only what can fit on my computer's local drive at any one time. For projects with more footage than I have space on my internal hard drive, this means I have to painstakingly bring footage folders onto my internal drive and upload one by one as space allows. Would be awesome to be able to upload these large files, which can be hundreds of GBs each, directly from an external drive to the Dropbox servers to share with collaborators. Cheers!

Hey I'm a photographer/director/filmmaker and I upload a lot of large files, I can't always take the time to clear my internal hard drive to have it sync automatically or sometimes the projects end up so large it won't fit on my computer.  I've been using Dropbox for the past 6 months and I constantly have errors or missed files when it uploads through any web browser on MAC.  Trying to locate missed files is a pain because you can't read which file errors if the filenames are longer.

A suggestion is to allow Smart Sync to sync on external drives instead of having to do smaller batches/or use the web browser.  Time is limited when trying to deliver files to clients who wanted them yesterday.  This would really maximize a creatives time instead of spending time on file management/delivery.

Please keep this in consideration moving forward!   Thanks!
