Uses can share the free local storage to earn coins, and use coins to buy more Dropbox services.

 

Similar as IPFS, but with authentication and user identities.

I like the idea of clever exchanges, but the economics of this idea may not work out for Dropbox - your “unused”/free space doesn’t actually exist and so it doesn’t cost DBX any money. If you start giving it away for your own benefits (not dropbox’s) then not only does it start costing Dropbox (because the storage would presumably be used) but it costs them twice as much. Just a thought, I might be wrong.
