I would like to set up a scyn schedule so that my dropbox updates during the evening at my office and pauses in the morning.
Is there a way that I can do this?
There is currently no sync scheduling feature in Dropbox. However, you can manually turn the syncing of your Dropbox desktop client on and off. In order to pause syncing, click on the Dropbox icon on the task bar (Windows) or the Menu Bar (Mac). On the new window that pops up, move to the lower left hand side and click "pause syncing".
You can also use a third-party scheduler (like the one built-in to Windows) to start and stop the Dropbox process on whatever schedule you define. Just make sure to use the same credentials for the task as you do when you log in to the computer. This is also a good alternative to running Dropbox as a service, for those that want it to continue syncing when not logged in to the computer.
Note that neither of those options are officially supported.
This is a feature that customers have been asking

about for at least the past 2 years yet our only option is to use a task scheduling program. Why can't the Dropbox developers simply add a 'sync on a schedule' option?
Please please please, add in a feature that enables syncing at a set time instead of exactly when you are working on it.... I live in country WA Australia and have such crap internet service, which allows a big lot of data (80GB) to be used between 1-6am, if I could sync drop box then it would allow me to use my daytime data (40GB total) for work and not get slowed every month!!
Use a scheduled task in your operating system to start and stop the Dropbox client as needed.
I too, live in WA (Wiat Awhile) we are that far behind when it comes to internet here, that we will evetually pass oursevles.
I would also love to see a feature added that allows uses to start and stop syncing at certain times.
My internet also has the largest amount that can only be used between the hours of 1am and 8am.
I know setting up ascheduled task has been mentioned, but not all of us are that clever to work out how to do it.
So a simple start and stop feature would be a very welcome addition. Surely it can't be that hard to implement into a future upgrade?
I believe the feature can easily be added, but having many users syncing, only during evening, will clog up their bandwidth.
Although, I may not mind paying a reasonable premium for this feature.
Old thread but options for syncing haven't seem to have advanced much, for the Mac at least. Instead of syncing Dropbox I use a program called Power Manager (https://www.dssw.co.uk/powermanager/) to quit Dropbox in the morning and launch Dropbox in the evening. This seems to work if files are left on the hard drive. Files can be used and updated during the day without triggering a re-sync. Then in the evening after I've closed all the programs Dropbox launches and immediately begins to sync.
I want dropbox to run between 1:00 and 8:00 o'clock
